ATLANTA...Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter will lead a panel of distinguished experts discussing 30 years of China-U.S. relations at The Carter Center on Thursday, Dec. 3, from 7-8:30 p.m. EDT. The event will be webcast live on www.cartercenter.org.
Panelists also include former Mayor of Shanghai Xu Kuangdi, Emory University Distinguished Visiting Professor of China Studies Mary Bullock, and Senior Research Fellow at the Center for U.S.-China Relations at Tsinghua University Zhou Shijian. The sold-out event is part of the Conversations at The Carter Center speaker series.
Also on Dec. 3, at 2:30 p.m.EDT, the photo exhibit "Looking Back After 30 Years: Marking the 30th Anniversary of China-U.S. Diplomatic Relations" will open at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Museum. The opening ceremony will feature remarks by former President Carter, Vice President of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries Madam Li Xiaolin, and Consul General of Houston Madam Gao Yanping. The exhibit, sponsored by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and on display through early-February, details the rich history of the U.S.-China relationship both before and after the historic decision by President Carter to normalize relations with China.
