2009 China-US Peace and Friendship Commemorating Sculpture Opening Ceremony

Around one hundred people including business and community leaders, public officials, diplomats in Atlanta and other areas as well as and faculties at GSU  attended the ceremony. CNN news anchor was master of the ceremony. Governor Perdue and Vice Governor sent their congratulation letters to the ceremony. The following people addressed audiences during the ceremony:

Dr. Shaohua Hu, President of Association of Chinese Professionals in Atlanta

Dr. Gao Yanping, the Consul General from the Consulate-General of People’s Republic of China in Houston

Dr. Wen Zou, Secretary of Chinese Arts Academy

Dr. Mark Becker, President of Georgia State University

Mr. John Stremlau, Vice President of The Carter Center

Mr. Tommie Williams, Georgia State Senate Majority Leader

Mr. Jim Maddox, City of Atlanta Councilman

Dr. Josephine Tan,Governor Perdue’s appointee on the Asian American Commission for a New Georgia

Mr. Don Brutto, President of UPS International

 

During his speech, Mr. Tommie Williams, Georgia State Senate Majority Leader,emphasized that peoples from both China and United States should become friends and must be friends.
